This bundle of 3 workshops is an ideal range of messy, skills-based art lessons where we cover some fantastic methods.
Each video lasting 15-20mins, so with pauses to do their own work, I allow 1 hour per workshop.
In each session we talk about ourselves as artists which gives us a way of thinking about what and why they are learning.
We learn about historic and contemporary artists as well as the more day-to-day practices of sketchbooks and how we use them.
Monoprinting
Here we learn about Henry Matisse and his use of copper sheet printing, what POSITIVE and NEGATIVE prints are, then create our own by using a sheet of plastic and printing inks to produce our designs.
Using household items to generate different types of line, getting to grips with rollers and taking inspiration from the books in our bedrooms we create some seriously addictive artwork to try over and over again.
Portraits
This switch and swap project gets everyone using a HUGE range of materials from oil pastels, to paints and chalks to collage. We look at contemporary artist Chari Peaks and her unorthodox use of colour on faces to suggest emotions.
We throw the rule book out the window and dive into the world of inter-changeable features to create a whole host of wacky characters.
Sketchbook Making
Here we learn a simple method to create our own sketch books for use as artists to work in and house the collections of bits and bobs we find along our journeys.
We look at some home made sketch books of my own and talk about what an important tool a sketchbook is for us.
There is a tiny bit of sewing in this workshop so they will call you if you are needed!
Enjoy!
